Looking for a Leader

Letter from an American

June 17, 2009

I'm a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now.

You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?

Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I'm not a racist. This isn't to be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the TARP bill. I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars. I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don't you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don't you start there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don't trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why -- what do you have against shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we'll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band-Aid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let's have it. Let's say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try -- please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now. Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let's just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I'm busy. I'm busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of the recent spending.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington. Our president often knows all the right buzzword is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don't want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we're morons.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we're so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work, pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when he will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

Who Are They?

Who Are They? And Where are “They” taking us?

The meteoric rise to the Presidency by Barack Hussein Obama was not the result of one candidate, unilaterally, on his own merit, appealing to an overwhelming majority of Americans.
No, he was bought, paid for, tailored, and groomed as a “package”. He was placed on a pedestal, candy coated, air-brushed and given scripts in the form of teleprompters. It did not matter that he had no true “roots” in traditional values and ideals of America. It did not matter that he had no experience in national defense, economics or foreign affairs. It did not matter that all his past associates were of dubious character, or that he himself was a product of the Chicago political “pay to play” machinery. It did not matter that he was a member of the socialist party of Illinois. It did not matter that he hid all of his birth, educational, and medical records from view, a process that began long before he announced his candidacy. It did not matter that the mainstream media refused to question any of these issues. It did not matter that he said he would cut the Department of Defense budget and eliminate missile defense programs in the face of a reawakening of the Russian bear. It did not matter that he said he wanted an internal security force as strong as the US military establishment. It did not matter that he told America he was going to redistribute wealth and give part of the wealth to those who would not, or could not work to achieve financial success. It did not matter that he began getting some $35 million in contributions from Wall Street and big finance in 1998, well before he even announced a candidacy for a national office. It did not matter that he sat in a church and listened to vitriolic diatribes about black liberation theology for twenty years. No it did not matter because he was elected.

Today, it does not matter that the national debt may go to $20 Trillion in the next decade. It does not matter that the new administration is doing everything it can to attack and dilute the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. It does not matter that universal health care will be foisted on the citizenry with the attendant delays in treatment for patients. It does not matter that the administration has abandoned Israel. It does not matter that the current resident of the White House has apologized to the entire world for the past “sins” of the United States. It does not matter that doctors and nurses who object to certain procedures on religious and moral grounds will be forced to perform those procedures or be guilty of breaking the law. It does not matter that he wants to start sex education at the age of five. It does not matter that the Department of Homeland Security has labeled anti-abortionists and military veterans as potential radical right-wing terrorists. It does not matter that the radical Islamic world has been told we are not at war with them. None of this matters because sixty percent of Americans, according to the “polls” still think he is doing a “good job”.

What does matter are the answers to two questions. Who are “they” who sold him to the United States? And, where are “they” taking the Republic? These two questions will only be answered if we remain awake and keep them on the plate in front of us. If we take our eyes off that plate, because the mainstream media diverts our attention to the “issue” or “crisis of the day”, we will arrive at an unknown destination and the Republic and Constitution will be things of the past. In addition to paying attention, we must take on a mode of critical thinking that is diametrically opposed to the way a patriotic American would normally think. That is, we must change roles and become one of “them”. Much has been written about the similarities between the rise of Hitler and the rise of Barack. But, what of the differences? They are very significant and worthy of consideration.

Hitler had to motivate the German people by calling for new unity and telling them they could be “one people”, a powerful country again, with a powerful military. He wanted a unified effort based on pride in their Teutonic heritage. Now, this is precisely the opposite of what Barack has done and continues to do. He wants to splinter and divide the United States militarily, religiously, morally and spiritually. He wants nothing of patriotism, a strong military or a surge in national pride. He wants nothing of the strength of a middle class or small business which is the economic power of the country. During his entire campaign, he never alluded to these qualities, characteristics or goals. Why not? It is as if he is dividing and weakening the country and preparing it for some sort of yard sale or takeover. The Republic is being tenderized, marinated and prepared for cooking. The Constitution is being bent, folded, stapled and mutilated. Why? And, for whom?

New Preamble to the Constitution

Received this today and thought it was a good reminder to those who don't quite get it.

"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal bed-wetter's. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights."

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth.. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended.. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair..

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from! (Lastly....)

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!

The American Standard

Superb speech given at the Norman OK Tea Party on 4.15.09.

THE AMERICAN STANDARD
BY JACOB F. ROECKER

Delivered in Norman Oklahoma 15 April 2009 6:00pm

In this country we look forward, because forward is the only direction to move. A few weeks ago we were looking forward, and the only people we saw moving in the same direction were the people to our sides. The people who believe the word “citizen” means something.

I’m grateful right now across our nation we can look up and see the stars and stripes flying. It’s there because brave Americans in our past, and brave Americans today, die to keep it there. They give their lives, and gift to us an unparalleled freedom and prosperity in the history of the world. It seems we can always look to our Soldiers as examples of the best America has to offer, and where do they turn? Which direction do they face? When times get toughest, what is it that they look to?

You shouldn’t be surprised to know that throughout history Soldiers have looked to a piece of cloth. Sometimes called a guidon, sometimes called “the colors,” and sometimes called a “standard.” Rallying around the standard in times of confusion gave Soldiers safety in numbers and a better chance to forge victory out of the threatening chaos before them.

I ask now, what is our standard? Our nation was forged in a time of war and needed a standard to turn to. Good citizens gathered and created a congress. The congress created their standard, built upon everything they had learned from the past. They needed to present their case clearly before all mankind and created: The Declaration of Independence. At the end of the document we read the words “we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”

When representing the people really mattered it required the pledge of your lives, fortunes, and sacred honor. This pledge was the patriot standard. But I say that good representation has always mattered. It will matter in my children’s generation, and it matters now. The standard in this country for representation is total dedication. Nothing they had was too important they were not willing to give it for this country.

There have been many conclusions drawn from that document and their actions in signing it. I would like to offer this conclusion for our generation. That selflessness in pledging your sacred honor is the standard of public service for the patriot generation that blessed this land over 230 years ago. It is the standard for every public servant from that time forward. It’s time we remind our government that the Patriot Standard should be the American standard.

We need that sort of representation now, but when you ask for it you hear people say things like “they don’t make them like anymore” or “those men were unique in all of history” and “we’ll never see men like that again.” I’d like to think that every generation of citizens has within its population the greatness of our founding fathers. If they could manage to find such patriots among a population of 2 million people than how come we can’t find them among a population of 300 million? Has God abandoned the country he has spent so much effort to help create? Would a deity that has openly rewarded the compassion of this nation towards its former enemies abandon us now? Does the argument that he cares less about me and my children than he did about the WWII generation, and the patriot generation hold weight?

NO. I cannot live and believe I have been abandoned. I can live and believe that my voice has been abandoned in government.

When the Boston tea party took place it wasn’t about the money. It was about what the money represented. Today the same logic stands true. Government spending in our generation means that my children and grandchildren’s generation has already been taxed. They bear the weight of this generation.

How did we get here? What’s at the root of it? The root of it is representatives placing agendas above values, placing parties before principles, putting priorities on the political processes external to the constitution. At some point we have been sold a lie and bought it. We have purchased an imitation of quality, and now quality counts.

Now we’re making some noise about it. Now we’re asking of our government “Is this is the best we can do?” Their best isn’t good enough, and instead of shrinking into thinking that is all the country has to offer its time we work together and start demanding more. There are patriots in this generation. We have to find them and put them in office.

I was on the phone with a friend last week who is a political adviser and recently had success in helping a governor get elected to office. I invited him to ask that his next candidate sign a pledge to represent his constituents according to basic principles and values. He said that it was politically too risky. The candidate hadn’t secured the party’s nomination.

Wait a second? Too risky? The possibly future governor of the state, in charge of thousands of uniformed service members that will probably get sent overseas is politically scared to sign a morally binding contract? They are scared to risk their own political career, but are willing to take charge of those willing to take deadly risks. Last time I checked if you didn’t get your party’s nomination you went back to your old job. What happens to the Soldier in Iraq under fire when the person to his right or left is afraid to take risks?

It’s time to get our priorities straight. It’s time someone raise a standard. It’s time this group sends a message to our government officials. We the people lead this nation. The caliber of representation that created this nation is the only caliber that will maintain it.

In order for your rights as citizens to be maintained they must be exercised. Now is the time. You are the right person for the job, and together we can make the Patriot Standard, the American Standard.

Visit 912candidates.org download the letters and postcards and send them in to your officials. Let them know you want your voice to matter. You’d be surprised how many of them have been waiting America to stand up. Today we are standing up. We’re on our feet, and all of us are headed in the same direction, forward.

Continental Congress Update

UPDATE #19: CONTINENTAL CONGRESS 2009

2009 Meeting Tour 2.0 Starts This Weekend
Organization Rising
Ed. note: This update regards the upcoming historic Continental Congress 2009 event to be held later this year. As part of CC 2009, delegates selected by the People from each of the fifty states will convene to discuss the Government's ongoing violations of the Constitution and develop strategies the People can employ to peaceably curtail the abuse and restore Constitutional Order. Although these violations have been widely debated for years, it is the Government's patent refusal to respond to any and all First Amendment Petitions for Redress that now compel the People to justly and actively resist the
tyranny.

This afternoon WTP Chairman Bob Schulz began a two-month, 56-city meeting tour across the nation to introduce the Continental Congress 2009 initiative to the remainder of the fifty states and to continue the process of organizing the People to support the historic, and much needed, Continental Congress 2009 Liberty event.
Click here for the new, 56-city _meeting schedule_
(http://www.wethepeoplefoundation.org/UPDATE/misc2008/2009-Pre-CC-Schedule.htm) .
As our supporters well know, our nation now finds itself in the throes of numerous crises affecting our Republic's health and stability that have as their root cause, direct violations of our Constitution. Whether our focus is turned toward our foreign military conflicts (started without congressional Declarations of War), the social dysfunction arising out of our Government's refusal to enforce current immigration law, or the economic and financial maelstrom our nation (and planet) now face as a certain outcome our Government's unconstitutional establishment of a privately-owned central bank and a monetary system erected upon nothing but a fiat, debt-based currency conjured into existence, it is difficult to ignore the plain fact
that our nation, by tolerating and even encouraging politically expedient violations of our Constitution, has self-inflicted much of the pain that We the People now suffer.

By our collective, de facto abandonment of our Founding Principles, both the Republic and the Liberty of the People are now at grave risk. But there remains hope.

Another Dem Conflict of Interest? Who Woulda Thunk It?

I've mentioned Senator Debbie Stabenow's (D-MI) effort to revisit the "Fairness Doctrine", which is designed purely to shut down conservative talk radio. Here's an interesting little tidbit about her involvement in the talk radio sphere.

An excerpt from Camille Paglia's article on salon.com:

"One of the nuggets I've gleaned from several radio sources is that Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow, who has been in the aggressive forefront of the campaign to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, is married to Tom Athans, who works extensively with left-wing radio organizations and was once the executive vice-president of Air America, the liberal radio syndicate that, despite massive publicity from major media, has failed miserably to win a national audience. Stabenow's outrageous conflict of interest has of course been largely ignored by the prestige press, which should have been demanding that she recuse herself from all political involvement with this issue."

Golly, I am shocked! Shocked, I say, that a Senator would put her own interests ahead of the the Constitutional Right to Free Speech! Unfortunately, that is the direction we are headed- total destruction of the document upon which our nation was founded. We the People are all that stand between our government and it's efforts to completely dismantle the US Constitution for political gain. Are we going to stand for that? Whilst the veterans and people who fought in WWII are rightfully called "The Greatest Generation", another truly great generation will be the one which has the will to stand up and oppose the enemy within which poses even greater danger to our nation.
