I've mentioned Senator Debbie Stabenow's (D-MI) effort to revisit the "Fairness Doctrine", which is designed purely to shut down conservative talk radio. Here's an interesting little tidbit about her involvement in the talk radio sphere.
An excerpt from Camille Paglia's article on salon.com:
"One of the nuggets I've gleaned from several radio sources is that Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow, who has been in the aggressive forefront of the campaign to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, is married to Tom Athans, who works extensively with left-wing radio organizations and was once the executive vice-president of Air America, the liberal radio syndicate that, despite massive publicity from major media, has failed miserably to win a national audience. Stabenow's outrageous conflict of interest has of course been largely ignored by the prestige press, which should have been demanding that she recuse herself from all political involvement with this issue."
Golly, I am shocked! Shocked, I say, that a Senator would put her own interests ahead of the the Constitutional Right to Free Speech! Unfortunately, that is the direction we are headed- total destruction of the document upon which our nation was founded. We the People are all that stand between our government and it's efforts to completely dismantle the US Constitution for political gain. Are we going to stand for that? Whilst the veterans and people who fought in WWII are rightfully called "The Greatest Generation", another truly great generation will be the one which has the will to stand up and oppose the enemy within which poses even greater danger to our nation.

Love your blog, specifically the content. It is so refreshing to see and read from someone as learned as you.
I quite agree with your assessment vis-a-vie the 'Fairness Doctrine'; moreover, what infuriates me is the manipulation of the US Constitution that these folks are up too. Shameless lot these people.
The scariest part for me is this notion; I really don't think they know what they're doing--and the long term affects many be unconscionable.

Thanks, JP- much appreciated. My guess is that BO and Co. know EXACTLY what they are doing, and are using the other morons as pawns in a systematic way to fundamentally transform America. Those are the exact words BO used 2 weeks before the election. I don't want America to fundamentally change; in fact, America needs to get back to the framers' intentions as written in the Constitution. Only we the people can stop this train wreck and I know that we can build the momentum to thwart their efforts, hopefully before it is too late. I'll stop by your blogs...thanks again.

If our government is going to do this with talk radio, then they sure better do it with television, newspapers and news stations. They all spew their liberal views each and every day and the majority of Americans, what 95% believe in God and are more right/centered than they are left. If it's going to be FAIR then it should be FAIR in all! The liberals are threatened by talk radio because they tell the truth!!
Absolutely, Amerifreedom. If they allow journalists who get "tingly feelings up their leg" to continue to propagandize to American viewers, then it seems they would be on very shaky ground in censoring only conservative radio talk show. Our guaranteed Freedoms are being assaulted, one by one. Americans had better start paying attention soon, or one day they'll wake up and find themselves in strange new political landscape reminiscent of Russia or Venezuela.
